The Town Council has direct responsibility for some buildings and properties such as the War Memorial and adjacent bus shelter, the Boniface Statue, the Bandstand, Upper Deck, the Millennium Cross, Peoples Park and a field at Stonypark. The Council shares responsibility or works in partnership with the two principal authorities on other issues such as the network of public footpaths and the provision of annual flower displays. The Council also manages three allotment sites in conjunction with the Boniface Allotments Association.

Mid Devon District Council and Devon County Council are responsible for many of the other services provided for the town such as refuse collection, education, highways, leisure facilities and housing. Your town councillors are not paid anything for serving on the council. Although on national issues councillors may have very different views as town councillors it is our duty to put politics aside and to put the interests of Crediton first. Even at local level we do not always see eye to eye but discussion and reasoning usually wins the day and decisions made are for the general benefit of the whole town.
