- kids love football, so we’ve enjoyed Exeter City’s online daily skills on their Facebook page (LINK). Most football teams seem to have created kids packs on their websites, annoyingly (apart from for Tottenham fans) Tottenham’s was great. The Premier league are also running quizzes on their website (LINK)
- A friend sent us a link to The James Dyson Foundation LINK, who offer a series of challenges that span science and engineering, and are just really good fun for KS2+ age. You use bits you already have around the house, like making a marble run from cardboard boxes, loo rolls and tape. There’s also a challenge to build a spaghetti bridge that's strong enough to hold a bag of sugar - ideal for those early pasta hoarders who are wondering what to do with all that spaghetti - you know who you are.
- Telling Our Stories LINK is an Exeter based organisation that explores multi cultural family roots. They’re running a project that encourages kids to become ‘explorers of family history’, using old photos to question and record their past. These can then be shared with Telling Our Stories as part of their wider project.
- Lots of digital arty bits, galleries and craft inspiration out there, pretty much every museum have beefed up their digital side. RAMM have just launched RAMM at Home LINK and there’s good stuff on Tate Kids LINK
- Duolingo. My two have really enjoyed using this language app to learn words and phrases. LINK
- Special shout out to new BBC Bitesize live. LINK, Launched this week, it’s a guilt free combo of actual lessons (even teachers use it!) and ‘yes you can go on the flipping iPad’.
- Closer to home, Facebook group Crediton Area Homeschool Parents has been set up for local parents to share and swap ideas. LINK
- If you haven’t got it, Now TV LINK offer a week’s free trial and this is where the good kids films (and yes, good grown-up films!) are hiding. Pretend the front room is a cinema and get in plenty of popcorn. Harry Potter binge, anyone?
