For many people the worst part of lockdown has been separation from their grandchildren. Local writer Mary Stephenson came up with a novel idea for keeping in touch with her grandson - she wrote him a story, recorded it with sound effects and music, and then sent it to him. She is offering to help others do the same.

‍Believe me, anyone can write a short story that their grandchild will be delighted with.  You don't have to be a Michael Morpurgo.  Your grandchild will love it because it's you.  Don't worry about what your voice sounds like, to your grandchild it's the voice of their beloved grandparent.  Once you’ve written your story, record it using a mobile phone and send the recording to me by email.  I will edit it with special effects and music and send it back to you.  Your grandchild will be delighted.
