Kick Start Art Challenge

Kick Start Art Introduction

Kick Start Art is a community art project for all school aged children living in Crediton and its surrounding villages (Haywards, Landscore, Sandford, Newton St Cyres, Cheriton Fitzpaine, Thorverton, Cheriton Bishop, Yeoford, Tedburn, Bow, Copplestone, Spreyton, Brampford Speke, Silverton and QE – if your child doesn’t attend any of these schools but lives in the area, they are very welcome to take part). It is led by Linda Williamson, a recently retired teacher who worked in local schools for the past 30 years. Linda and the Crediton Heart Project are passionate about art and started this project to inspire and enthuse children to create art, try some new techniques, learn about a range of artists and most importantly to have fun and enjoy the process!

How does it work?

Each term, Linda will set an art challenge. The challenge will be for children to complete at home (however, some schools may wish to complete the challenge in school and will let you know if they do so – there is no reason why the children can’t do it in school and at home). She will share the challenge with all the schools who will present it to the children in assemblies or tutor group time. All this information will also be shared with parents through newsletters and social media. Click on the relevant pages for each term’s project.

What do you need to do?

  1. Find out what this term’s project is
  2. Look at all the videos and images to get some ideas
  3. Create your own art work on paper that is no bigger than A4
  4. Remember that it has to be your own artwork
  5. When you have finished, take a photo of your artwork (no filters or editing please) or scan it and send it to Linda at this email address: kickstartart100@gmail.com
  6. In your email, please include your first name, the year group you are in and the name of your school
  7. Please keep your piece of artwork safe – if you are a winner we will want to exhibit and celebrate it!
